With Apollo 8 it was successful
to leave the earth orbit and to fly to the moon with the first one. This
enterprise appeared to the people in the whole world as a sensation. The far
more difficult part which should happen in the earth orbit nevertheless
still lay ahead. With Apollo 9 the manned lunar module should be tested now
with the first one.
